November News Flash

Native American Flute Portal is open and this project from Jeff Ball and Geoffrey Ellis of Earthtone Flutes looks very exciting. A link to the flute portal is found to your right and WV NAF Circle has a free web page there as well for better exposure. Stop by as the site is building now and is user interactive - so the more users, the better the site.

WV NAF Circle has hit the road with traveling presentations and we did two 30-minute sessions with the local Montessori School in Elkins for preschool age kids. Very fun stuff and a super appreciative audience! Scheduled dates for additional schools will follow but we are looking to introduce one new school a month to the NA Flute and the didgridoo.

I have been away from the blog - sanding! The trouble has really started in earnest - I am working with one of our circle members to attempt to make a flute. Two flutes actually and I will not spoil the surprise - stay tuned for sounds, pictures and text on these instruments when they are complete. Anyway my hands have been busy with wood rather than the keyboard and I am still smiling so far (with all fingers intact, LOL)

Our next meeting is this Saturday from 1-3pm at Elkins in the Randolph County Community Arts Center. We will meet upstairs this month.
This month features the opening of a traveling Smithsonian exhibit at RCCAC, Produce for Victory: Posters on the American Homefront, 1941 – 1945. So check out the wonderful exhibit prior to attending our meeting.
