April News - technology failure!

I am without a home computer and while this puts me in great company with 70% of Americans it is inconvenient in that I was dependent upon it daily for tasks including the blog updates. Plan for this to be the single monthly installment and I hope to be up and running again in May – well see.
This month’s meeting will be at the RCCAC and we will be upstairs. Plans include a new song Shady Grove in two versions. We’ll show you how I got that during a lesson on the flutetree.com side ruler – a tool that allows you to take your favorite song and get it ready for your flute. Many of my recent monthly song selections are not always the house favorite and I really want to see what other people will want to play and transpose – so this lesson may accommodate that and help those that play 5 hole flutes too.
We’ll see new flutes for sure at the meeting, as I found an amazing flute from Colyn Peterson and Paul has been working on some new flutes as well.
We will have a monitor again this month for video sharing as that was a big hit last month.

Kudos to Robert Gatliff who is a person who has really given a great deal to the flute community and should be recognized for those contributions. Visit his site and set up any song in his songbook for the type of flute you have just by selecting from the dropdown menu. Searching for a song already transposed? He has listed nearly 300 songs across the web that are printable for free or in various songbooks you might purchase.

Upcoming events:
Bob Willasch on May 12 too. Details of Bob’s visit are here: http://www.randolpharts.org/07latespringclasses.html

Timber Flute Festival June 25 to 29 will be a wood flute event and Thursday (June 28) at lunch, our special guest Stuart Hill will be presenting an introduction to the Native American Style Flute for the week’s participants. You will not want to miss this – as Stuart is a wonderful flute player. We hope to find new NAF aficionado’s through Stuart’s presentation. Links to the festival and Stuart’s site are here on the right.

WVNAF’s second Saturday meeting will be May 12th and we will also meet upstairs for the meeting. Until next time!
