Review of Timber Flute Concert 3/3

Well folks it was a wonderful performance.
Wendell Dobbs, Linda Wolfersheim, & Elizabeth Ford playing wooden flutes
Julio Alves playing classical guitar
Robert Psurny Jr. singing tenor

This was a two hour extravaganza of music attended by several from our flute circle, and many regional residents on yet another cold & snowy evening in Elkins. The flute playing was my favorite by bias but the many arrangements and composers gave me a new appreciation and education in 18th century music and technique. This event raised funds for the First Annual Timber Flute Festival which will be held June 24-29 in Elkins this summer. Wendell Dobbs, Colin St. Martin, and Grey Larsen will be instructors for this event and the instruments of Flute maker & local resident, John Gallagher will be featured. Hearing some of this type of playing Saturday night definitely whets your appetite for what is in store this summer.

Stay tuned for details but the WV NAF Circle has agreed to do a demonstration of Native Style Flute at this summers event and we are excited to share the instrument and learn from one another music.

You can learn more about Timber Flute Festival from the link at your right.
We will meet Saturday March 10th from 1-3pm in the great hall at Randolph County Community Arts Center. We hope to see you there, bring any instrument you'd like!
